Yes — completely normal life. The liver continues producing bile which now flows directly into the small intestine. In the first 2–4 weeks some patients notice looser stools after very fatty meals — this settles as the body adapts. After this period, the vast majority have no dietary restrictions whatsoever. A small minority (about 5%) have mild sensitivity to very high-fat foods, easily managed by moderating fat intake.
Appendicitis is a genuine surgical emergency that worsens with time. Classic symptoms: pain beginning around the navel migrating to the right lower abdomen over 12–24 hours, with nausea, low-grade fever and loss of appetite. If the appendix perforates — which typically occurs 24–72 hours after onset — the infection spreads throughout the abdomen, making surgery significantly more complex. Come to our emergency the moment you suspect appendicitis. A perforated appendix is preventable with timely surgery.
Modern lightweight polypropylene mesh has an excellent 40-year safety record. It integrates with body tissue within a few months, providing permanent reinforcement. Mesh complications — chronic pain or infection — occur in under 1–2% of cases when placed correctly. Recurrence with mesh repair is under 2%, compared to 10–15% without mesh. We use only certified, approved mesh from established manufacturers.
Conventional haemorrhoidectomy cuts away the haemorrhoidal tissue — effective but associated with significant post-operative pain and 2–4 weeks recovery. Laser Haemorrhoidoplasty (LHP) delivers laser energy through a probe inside the haemorrhoid to shrink and destroy it without any cutting — virtually no post-operative pain, day-care, return to work next day. Both achieve comparable long-term results; we recommend laser for Grade III haemorrhoids and select Grade IV cases.
Surgery is recommended when: a thyroid nodule is suspicious or malignant on FNAC biopsy; a goitre causes compression symptoms (difficulty swallowing or breathing); hyperthyroidism does not respond to anti-thyroid medications or radioiodine; thyroid cancer is confirmed. Many thyroid conditions are managed medically — our surgeon will advise after reviewing your ultrasound and biopsy results. Every thyroid operation at Meds Hospital uses intraoperative nerve monitoring to protect the voice nerve.
